Hello fellow bloggers I hope everyone is enjoying  the things that we post for you to read. I wanted to let the parents know that they are always welcome to come to me with any concerns they may have on something they saw, heard or that their child told them. We have a little sane in the pre -school world that we believe non of what we hear and half of what we see and we always ask the parents for the real story before we accuse them of anything. On that note I would like for the parents to keep that in mind when your little ones tell you things about school and the teachers. For example one of my teachers was reading the NoDavid book to her class when one of the parents came to my office and said this teacher was yelling at” David” to stay of the furniture and stop running and they didn’t feel her tone was appropriate with that child. I knew that we didn’t have a child by that name in the school but I followed up on the concern of the parent, learning it was a story she was reading and the kids loved it. I shared that with the parent and they felt embarrassed. I simply said “don’t feel embarrassed  just ask and I will always get to the bottom of the concern”. So parents if your child tells you something that raises a red flag please talk to us before making any harsh decisions.

Hi everyone I hope you are enjoying our blogging. I would like to give a friendly reminder to all parents enrolled in our school. Periodically check you child’s cubby to make sure that their extra clothes still fit and are the right season. Nothing like changing a child into sweats when it’s 90 degrees outside.  Also please remember to label all items with your child’s name.

Things that you will find in a pre-school teachers pocket at the end of a day. A crayon, band aide wrapper, hair bow, rocks, a stick, a quarter, a yellow letter B magnet and last but not least a red Lego that she picked up off the floor on the way to the potty with her class. These are items that one of my teachers pulled out of her pocket yesterday before she went home. Whats in you pockets at the end of the day?

Most people would be pulling thier hair out if they were stuck in side w/ 60 kids in the pooring down rain. Well not us we have made the best of a bad situation. We have bikes up and down the halls, rubber ducks floating in the puddles and forts for all children to play in and under. It’s time to get up and already your child has “school anxiety”. You may wonder why. The first thing you may question is does my child not like school, is there someone at school picking on my child? These are all legitimate questions. It is perfectly normal for your child to have a little bit of anxiety when they first enroll at a new center. How do you feel when you begin a new job, or go to a party where there are only a handful of people you know? Just reassure them that you will be back. Give them a time frame they understand, for example, Mommy will be back right after lunch, or Daddy will be here when you wake up from rest time. This helps them have a goal. Remember, the younger they are the more time they need to adjust. Two year olds can take up to a month to adjust, where prek kids are usually fine after 2 weeks. Communication is key and let your director know if your child continues to have “school anxiety”.
